Historical Context:

Stefan Batory was one of the most notable rulers in Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth history. Born into Hungarian nobility, he became Prince of Transylvania in 1571 and was elected King of Poland in 1576. His reign was marked by military reforms, successful campaigns against Muscovy (now Russia), and efforts to strengthen royal power.

Batory's rule saw the establishment of the Pułtusk School, an important Jesuit college, and the transformation of the University of Vilnius into the Vilnius Academy. He was known for his military prowess, administrative skills, and attempts to modernize the Polish-Lithuanian state.

This coin is a beautiful tribute to a significant figure in Polish and European history, making it an excellent addition to any collection focused on European monarchs or Polish history.
