This copper-nickel piece was a non-circulating coin, struck by the Royal Mint (UK) the same year Guinea replaced the franc with the syli currency, which remained Guinea's currency until 1985.

The obverse shows Ahmed Sekou Toure, the first president of Guinea from 1958 until his death in 1984.

The reverse displays the denomination within a wreath and the words
